We're happy to talk to you about DC and sailing on the Potomac! Fill out the form below and email gwsailingrecruits@gmail.com and our recruitment chairs Hayden and Sam will reach out with details about joining the team.
The GW Sailing Team offers two distinct options for joining, catering to different experience levels and commitment.
Competitive Sailing Team: This option is for individuals who are interested in pursuing sailing at a higher level, competing regularly in regattas, and traveling most weekends for races. Members of the competitive team are expected to commit to practices, travel schedules, and the demands of competing at the collegiate level. This path requires a higher cost of participation, which helps cover travel, entry fees, and other team expenses. It’s ideal for those who are already experienced sailors or those who are eager to develop their skills and compete against other collegiate teams.
Learn to Sail: The "Learn to Sail" option is designed for individuals who have minimal to no prior sailing experience. This is a more relaxed, introductory program where participants can learn the basics of sailing from current team members. The focus is on building foundational skills in a supportive, less competitive environment. It’s a great choice for those who are interested in exploring sailing, gaining confidence on the water, and enjoying the sport without the pressure of competition. The cost for this option is lower, making it more accessible for beginners.
Whether you're looking to race at the highest level or just want to get started on the water, the GW Sailing Team has an option to fit your goals and experience level.
