Nick Lopez grew up sailing out of Marblehead Harbor where he learned to sail Sonars and Optimists. He transitioned into 420s at Nantucket Community Sailing where he learned the fundamentals of racing which he brought into the fold at his high school, St. John's Prep in Danvers, MA. During his high school sailing career, he crewed extensively and sailed at qualifying events and the state championship. During the summers in Marblehead, he has coached Optimist learn-to-sail at the Boston Yacht Club. In addition to coaching, he also trims the jib on a Farr 30 in the A Fleet during a weekly PHRF race and occasionally sails in Etchells races. He is currently studying economics and political communication with an aspiration to pursue a career in the defense sector.
